DEV - STEP 3: MITE DEVELOPMENT
DEVELOPMENT: Step 2
Welcome to WYH’s Mite Development Program — the next step in your player’s hockey journey!
Our Mite Development program is designed for skaters who have completed Learn to Skate or Intro to Hockey and are ready for more structured hockey training. Running from October through March, sessions are held:
- Saturdays at 12:00 PM
- Sundays at 11:40 AM
Building Skills for Future Success
The goal of MDL is to prepare players for travel hockey by building on their skating foundation and introducing essential hockey skills. Each session combines station-based skill work with small-area games to keep players engaged, challenged, and improving.
Skills We Focus On
Our experienced coaches help players develop:
- Forward & backward skating
- Edge control and balance
- Quick starts & controlled stops
- Pivots and transitions
- Crossovers
- Passing & receiving
- Shooting techniques
- Puck control & decision-making
Teamwork and Game Play
Players are randomly placed on teams that practice together and compete in small-area games. This format emphasizes teamwork, friendly competition, and game awareness in a fun, supportive environment.
More Than Just Hockey
At WYH, we know that building a love for the game is just as important as developing skills. MDL provides the structure and energy of real hockey, while keeping the experience fun, positive, and rewarding for every child.
Join us for Mite Development and watch your player grow — in skills, confidence, and love for the game!
